Sverre Sandnes Sæbø is double bass player, composer and bandleader from Trondheim, Norway. He dedicates most of his artistic activities to different forms of jazz and improvised music with a love for exploring new expressions. His bass playing expresses flexibility, flow and a search for instinctive musical development. Trough his creativity and interactive musicianship he is easily recognizable in any project with his characteristic sound and long hair.
After finishing his bachelor degree in jazz performance at the Grieg academy, University of Bergen in 2023 he has been based in Bergen, where he has become a central figure in the city's music scene. Being part of bands like Avian Art, Aksel Røed's other aspects, and more, he is this spring releasing the debut album of his own Sverre Sæbø Quintet called "If, however, you have not lost your self control". This release will be accompanied by a release tour around Norway to promote the record.
Alongside his musical performance, Sæbø works as a sound technician in live sound, recording, and mixing. He contributes to a variety of projects, ranging from doing live sound at local jazz clubs and recording/mixing albums for fellow musicians, to working as an assistant engineer for Nobel Lyd. There, he's involved in live-streaming and recordings for the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra among many other projects, with a highlight being the Dolby Atmos recording of Mahler's 8th Symphony, which premiered in Norwegian movie theaters in 2024.
With a devoted ear for acoustic and dynamic music he is always striving to convey the energy and emotion inherent in the music to the audience in a best possible way.
