Dološ Jienat // The Voices From the Past
The concert "Dološ Jienat//Voices from the Past" creates an interdisciplinary epicenter where ancient Sámi joik meets surging jazz musicians, innovative video art, and texts about sustainability from a Sámi perspective. Composer and performer Sondre Pettersen has composed the music based on his coastal Sámi background. In the concert performance, Pettersen's music meets texts from central Sámi authors such as Áilohaš, as well as the well-known climate researcher Snorre Kverndokk.
Sámi culture has a direct relationship with nature, and this is the starting point for conveying climate hope and how we can live meaningful lives in the fight for a greener future. The concert toured for DKS Oslo in 2023 and for DKS Vestland in 2025. The joik is an important part of our shared cultural heritage, and the goal is for future generations of students to carry this cultural heritage with them in the historically important struggle for the green transition.
