Thinker Ant explores the possibilities that come with a lineup without chordal instruments. The music, which draws inspiration from both Nordic and American jazz, builds on strong bass ostinatos and distinctive melodies. Interaction and improvisation are central to the compositions, which allow for both the tonal and the harmonically liberated.
The quartet, with backgrounds from the Jazz program at NTNU and the Grieg Academy in Bergen, has toured both in Norway and Northern Europe. In Norway, the band has played a large number of concerts, including at venues and clubs such as Victoria National Jazz Scene, Evans Jazz Club, Hos Naboen, Konsertgalleriet, and Kampenjazz.
At the Soddjazz festival in 2019 they had a hugely sucsessful collaboration with Sissel Vera Pettersen for the opening of the festival to amazing feedback.
